Jávea Old Town, broken down into what it’s actually made of

It’s a record of what Jávea’s Old Town is actually built from – the Tosca sandstone quarried just outside town, the doors and windows that have been there since the 1600s, the ‘ball-in-hand’ knockers on seemingly almost every entrance, the municipal ironwork, the inscriptions above doorways recording names and dates that nobody has thought to translate.

The streets are medieval width because they were never widened. The stone shows centuries of wear because it’s the original stone. The details are consistent because they came from the same quarry, the same craftsmen, the same small town.
